Dr. Rita Khanna has more than 20 years of legal and business development experience in the biomedical field focusing on strategic partnering and negotiation of agreements, licensing of technologies and intellectual property management. She has extensive experience on issues of global health, especially on diseases affecting developing countries. She was previously General Counsel at Aeras, Director of Technology Transfer at the University of Maryland Biotechnology Institute, and worked in the Office of Technology Transfer at the National Institutes of Health. In addition to her legal experience, she has extensive scientific research experience in both academia and private industry, including at NIH. She received her Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Illinois, her J.D. from University of Maryland Law School and is a member of the Maryland Bar.
